West Manse - Painting Courses
The large sunroom alongside the kitchen is ideal for painting. It has excellent light, 18 feet of stainless counter and 2 belfast sinks. It is used for cooking courses so is easily cleaned and has room for 3 easels.
There is a door to the outside paved area overlooking the Westray Firth with the islands of Rousay, Egilsay, Shapinsay, Mainland, Brough of Birsay and Sanday all visible on a clear day. The next land to the west is Nova Scotia.
in the garden is the wheelhouse of the "Summer Rose" used as "sitootery" for artists and bird watchers.
We have various craft equipment available on request.
Painting courses at West Manse are tutors by local guest tutors, all local artists.

Peter Brown - The Gallery Pierowall
Peter presents oil painting or drawing classes for individuals or small groups either in his studio in the village, here at the Manse, or on location.
Courses are available from the beginning of May to the end of August at £70 per day including lunch and basic materials.

Alex Costie
Alex was a fisherman, he is now a painter. As a young man he went whaling. He has a seamans knowledge of the many moods of the sea and sky and this is reflected in his work.
Alex provides tuition in painting seascapes oil either in his studio in the village, on location or here at the Manse.
Courses are £70 per day including lunch. Materials at cost.
