Guided Tours

Bird Watching

Westray provides excellent bird watching opportunities
The Castle o’ Burrian is a favourite spot for Puffin watching in the summer.
The bird reserve at Noup Head is the nesting place for one of the best breeding colonies in Orkney, with around 40,000 kittiwakes and some 20,000 guillemots and a slightly less razor bills.
Walking
There are two coastal walks on Westray with more walks detailed in the Westray Walks leaflet available at local tourist information centres.
The west Westray walk runs from Noup Head Lighthouse south to East Kirbest Farm.

Westray Heritage Centre
A permanent exhibition of Westray's history, flora and fauna can be seen here next to the Pierowall Hotel. In addition to the permanent exhibition, each year sees a new exhibition on a specific local topic. Local crafts can be purchased; coffee, limited opening hours. Now has an extensive database of churchyards and houses and a growing genealogy section.
